An answer is only as good as its question!

First-time clients frequently ask me what kinds of questions they are allowed to pose for or during a reading. My stock answer is any kind. It might seem obvious but the question asked should be the one for which the client desires an answer. In my book nothing is or should be off limits. To be sure, intuition and clairvoyance are limitless tools. As such, we shouldn't limit how we apply them to this aspect of our lives while shielding that area from them. But as with so many things in life, there is more to it than that.

Spain - a tribal nation for better and for worse!

It's another August in Spain. Up and down the country local fiestas are underway. In my village, our fiesta is being held today. It's called La Fiesta de San Lorenzo. Officially, all fiestas are linked to a patron saint. In our case, Saint Lawrence. But that's only in spirit, if you will. There's actually very little religious significance to fiestas these days. Modern day Spanish fiestas are more a time for families to come together in food and drink. As anyone with firsthand experience knows, it's uniquely Spanish.

Is your happiness bullet-proof?

This morning I cleared my schedule to get some pesky administrative tasks off my to-do list. They had been hanging around for far too long and it was time to draw a line under them. Among other things, I needed to call in at a local government office, go to the bank and pick up a few specialty items at the supermarket. Now, so that it wasn't all work and no play I had decided to treat myself to breakfast at a lovely patisserie not far from where I would be doing business.

Farewell Psychic News!

It was with great sadness that I learned on Saturday that Psychic News had published its last issue. I was a loyal subscriber to Psychic News and considered it an essential read to keep me connected to what was going on in the world of psychics, mediumship and all things paranormal in Britain and the world.

Simplicity doesn't just happen!

We are told to keep things simple. But in today's world that is easier said than done. In fact, it seems that all we do is inadvertently but automatically accumulate tasks and add more and more to our routines. Eventually a day comes when something that we once loved doing suddenly seems like a chore.

Are you possessed? Or is someone stealing your energy?
Let's consider other explanations first!

Spirit possession seems to be the latest craze. Well, I reach this conclusion based on the marked increase of people coming to me saying that they believe that they are possessed or being tormented by spirits or have been told that they are by other psychics.

You're only as old as you FEEL!

This week I saw the headlines declaring that Naomi Campbell would be turning the Big Four-0. But instead of hiding herself away whilst pining over lost youth, she would be, in her truly inimitable style, proclaiming her age to the world with a fabulous party on the French Riviera.

Don't let your dreams just slip away!

This past week was what I consider a "dreamy week". No, I didn't feel like I was sleepwalking. Nor was it that I found myself floating in the clouds. It wasn't even that people were asking me to interpret their dreams. Instead, I had several clients in a row who wanted me to tell them how to achieve their dreams.

Chase the blues away by spending five minutes outside!

Last week was a very trying and testing time. I know I shouldn't complain - and I'm not. I had readings and coaching sessions back to back. I love what I do and love helping the people who come to me for guidance and advice. But my line of work can be draining especially when I'm expected to wave a magic wand to make it all better instantly and painlessly. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as that and I demand a lot from myself and my clients. So, yesterday I decided that I needed a day off and that it would be a day outside.

Should we ban Ouija boards
to save our children?

Ouija boards have been in the news again. It's not that they've been featured in any new films or that anything untoward has happened - although some might say that we've escaped calamity but by the skin of our teeth. No, what's got the vocal minorities worked up this time is that Hasbro, the American toy manufacturer, has produced a line of Ouija boards in bright pink and pitched toward young girls.

It's 2010 and the start of a new decade. My goodness how time flies. It really does seem that it was not so long ago that we were greeting the new millennium.
2009 is winding down and sooner than we think we'll be saying hello to 2010. It's a time when we cannot help but reflect. We find ourselves looking back over the past year trying to remember all that happened. And because it's the end of a decade this is even more true as we try to recall the events since 1999. My goodness, how times have changed!

It's all in the preparation for
successful New Year's resolutions!

As we prepare to say "so long" to 2009, the vast majority of us are thinking about resolutions to make as we welcome in 2010. To be sure, this is a time of year when we make all kinds of promises to ourselves. But how many of us will move into 2011 having accomplished those goals? Well, according to the experts, very few indeed.

I am truly grateful for all the positive feedback that I regularly receive from my clients regarding their readings.
Stress is different things to different people!

Just like that, Spain is in holiday mode. The beach down the road is heaving. Giddy shrieks and yelps of playing children can be heard over the gentle and peaceful lull of cows bells. City folk struggle to navigate their cars on our winding roads here in the country. Houses that are locked and deserted for most of the year are suddenly thrown open and instantly inhabited with people determined to get away from it all.

It's definitely summertime here in Spain. The vegetable patch and orchard are pumping out enough food to feed a small army. The usually quiet roads are struggling to cope with the annual invasion of the Madrid crowd escaping up north to enjoy the mountains and beaches. And it's hot!

There's nothing to meditation.
So stop making it difficult!

It's verging on a truism to say that stress can kill you. Study after study has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt the untold harm that too much stress in one's life can do - emotionally, mentally, physically and of course spiritually. But there's one thing that each of us can do in our lives to reduce, if not reverse, the damage that stress is doing to us, and that is to meditate.

Messages from Michael Jackson?

Let me begin this week by stating that you are unlikely ever to hear me report any spirit communication from Michael Jackson. It's not happened yet and I don't think it will - well, not to me at least.
Genius Symbols - Connect with your very own genius!

What a busy Spring this has been! I am continuing with unflagging determination to renovate my old farmhouse in Spain. Anyone else would probably have called in the professionals. But alas, for me, this is a journey that I must make myself. The fruit and vegetables had to be planted and nurtured. So far, the potato and strawberry yield has been nothing short of phenomenal.
It's a common misconception that only people struggling to overcome illness get a medical intuitive reading. Of course, many of my clients do have some physical ailment that they seek to understand better. Some of them even already have an inkling there's more to it - an emotional or spiritual aspect that has escaped them.
This week I want to start with something of a confession. So, let's just lay this one on the table and get it out into the open.
Forced change may be just what we need!

Let's face it - the world is going from bad to worse. The world's economies are shrinking. Banks are being nationalised left, right and centre. Governments aren't just spending money that they don't have; they are actually printing more - a process that goes by the wonderfully ambiguous euphemism of "quantitative easing". Food prices are soaring. The value of our homes is plummeting. It all paints a pretty bleak picture.

This week British scientists made a very interesting announcement about a possible way to enhance the human body's ability to repair itself. The technique being studied triggers the body to release 100 times more stem cells to treat whatever and wherever needs healing.

Let's learn the lesson, pick ourselves up and MOVE ON!

I am a firm believer in trying to see what life is teaching at any one moment. I have always felt that - for better or for worse - I have been responsible for what's happened in my life. Now that's not to say that I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, under a blue moon or having had a ticket to easy street slipped in my pocket.

Present time is the key to everything!

No matter which spiritual path you follow, all the great masters have tried to teach us that the way to becoming conscious and enlightened is to be in the moment. Even today I challenge you to find a single self-help book that does not emphasise the importance of being in the present time.

Blind man sees with "sixth sense"!

Putting a blind man in a maze might sound like the opening of some sort of cruel joke. But that's precisely what researchers at Harvard Medical School recently did. And while you might cringe at the thought of what happened next, let's just say that the researchers didn't see this one coming - pun intended.

Now is the time to look ahead to 2009!

As 2008 draws to a close, I have to say that I feel it was a remarkable year. For many, it was one nothing short of "shock and awe". The world seems to be stuck in a veritable financial quagmire. And no matter how many billions are pumped into the markets, we hear again and again how we are just teetering on the edge of global economic collapse.

Why do we seek to call ourselves anything but PSYCHIC?

This past weekend I listened to a pre-recorded workshop led by a prominent spiritual and mystical teacher. She was recounting one of her personal anecdotes - the kind that make her lectures so engaging and rich. In fact, I have heard her speak so many times over the years that I thought I knew all of her sidebars by heart. But this time I heard something new - something that actually shocked me.

As I write this, I have just completed what has been nothing short of a marathon session of Relationship Readings, counselling and agony aunt advice.
I don't know about you, but I can hardly believe that November is here. Where has 2008 gone? At the risk of sounding like my mother, time really does fly the older we get.
Should psychics make political predictions?

I am often asked whether there is any area off limits to psychics - any topic that simply doesn't lend itself to a reading. My first response is usually an emphatic No! And that's true for the most part. Okay, some psychics are better with relationship issues. Others are more skilled at commercial or business transaction readings. If your question concerns your health or spirituality, then there are specialists out there for you.

From psychic scams to psychics being scammed!

By now we have all heard about the new legislation in force in Britain regarding psychics, mediums and healers. It's good-bye to the Fraudulent Mediums Act and hello to the Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. The government rightly felt that the public needed additional safeguards to be protected from the unscrupulous and their psychic scams. But now it's the psychics themselves who are being targeted.

If you want to change your life,
start with your BELIEFS!

As a Medical Intuitive and Life Coach, I spend a lot of time working with people to help them to appreciate the impact that their beliefs have on their lives. When I do a reading for someone, I become very intimately aware of and acquainted with what that person believes about themselves and the world at large. I also tune into what role those beliefs play in their lives. Do their beliefs give them confidence and warm feelings? Or do their beliefs knock them down or pull the carpet out from under them at the earliest opportunity?

There's a new law of the land for psychics and mediums.
But is it as bad as we are being led to believe?

Here in Britain many are up in arms over the government's decision to repeal the Fraudulent Mediums Act. Last month a petition with over 10,000 names was delivered to Downing Street in protest, demanding that the existing law be left in place. The signatures, however, didn't persuade the government to shelve its plans and the act has been stricken down. So now what?

How can you find a legitimate psychic with so many scams about?

This past week a local newspaper featured an article on two unrelated cases in which mediums had been accused of defrauding their clients. But when, in the end, her so-called evil spirit remained with her, she took her own life by leaping to her death.

The Law of Attraction always works - ALWAYS!

The Law of Attraction has been getting a lot of press at the moment. It's the notion that like attracts like. As a principle, we've always known about it. It's the nugget behind such sayings as birds of a feather flock together and so forth. However, we are now no longer observing it, we are actively engaging with this universal law to bring about more of what we want and less of what we don't want. Or at least, that's how it's supposed to work.

For years we dismissed it as rubbish or as a New Age fad. But at last we are beginning to take the notion that we've been here before in a previous life more seriously.

Being active in your healing is worth the effort!

As a Medical Intuitive, I read people's energy. What I perceive are impressions of attitudes, thoughts, beliefs, behaviour patterns, experiences and events in their lives, all of which have played a role in their health. Some people come to me for confirmation of what they suspect. Others have come to learn to see themselves in a completely new light. But all of them have known at some level, deep though it may be, that something was wrong.

Relationship Readings - Not just for lovers!

This past week I was approached by several clients with the same query. Their backgrounds and even how they broached the topic couldn't have been more different. But they all shared the same timidity and slight embarrassment when they asked whether I could do a Relationship Reading on people who weren't romantically involved. My response? Well, of course!

Is intuition really just imagination?

When people find out that I'm a professional Medical Intuitive, there's the standard list of questions I'm asked. They range from whether I really believe in what I do to what makes me so special. Then there are what I consider to be better questions. I say they are better because they come from a place of curiosity - they are neutral. And one of the most common of these such questions forms the basis of this week's note.

Palmistry - It's ancient and accurate,
and it deserves more respect!

Of all the esoteric subjects, palmistry is probably the least understood and as such has an undeservedly bad reputation. Come on, admit it. If someone says that they read Tarot cards, most of you will admit that there's something to it. But as soon as the P-word is mentioned, those same people will align themselves with the sceptics and all but dismiss it completely.

If not, it should be!

This week I'd like to share with you the concept of living intentionally and authentically. It's a concept which I spend a lot of time exploring with my Intuitive Life Coaching clients. For those of you who don't know about my coaching, this week's note will then serve as something of an introduction.

This past week I was contacted by a woman, let's call her Nicole, about getting a reading. But Nicole's weren't the typical questions. You see, a friend of Nicole had offered to buy her a reading as a gift. It wasn't for a specific occasion but rather what I call spontaneous gifting.

Ethical Psychics - Worth Their Weight in Gold!

Over the past week, a number of you wrote me to relate your encounters with what I tend to think of as the dark side of the psychic industry. My heart reached out as I read about how deaths were predicted, dreams shattered and thinly veiled attempts made at extortion. While I was horrified, I have to say that I wasn't that surprised.

What role does the moon play in your life?
More than you might think!

They say that a new moon on Monday is lucky. A ring around the moon is said to signal that rain is on the way. We should move into a new house during a new moon to ensure we'll have more than we want. And we best beware of a full moon on Friday the 13th. The list of moon folklore that has built up over the centuries goes on and on.

What do you think of when someone uses the term holistic? Do you immediately think of your local health food shop?
Happy New Year!
Take it easy with that resolution!

New Year's celebrations around the world are simultaneously wonderful, wacky and sometimes a little bit weird. For example, here in Northern Spain we welcomed in 2007 by eating twelve grapes as the clock chimed twelve and then washed them down with sparkling cider. In England, someone runs outside and comes back in (via the front door) carrying coal (ideally), but more often than not bread, salt or money as our first-footer. In Switzerland, we used to let a drop of cream hit the floor to bring us luck. And in the US, it was all about eating black-eyed peas while watching the parades and football.

Happy New Year!

As I write this, 2006 is drawing to a close. The after-Christmas sales are in full swing. Year-end reviews, in one form or another, are once again being touted by every newspaper and magazine. Many of us are trying to squeeze into clothing that we swear fit only days ago. And soon we'll be singing (or at least humming) to the chorus of Auld Lang Syne and popping corks.

How can that pendulum tell us anything?

If you're a regular reader of this column, you'll already be aware of the fact that I split my time between the big city lights of London and a rural village in a part of northern Spain called Asturias. But what you might not know is just what sort of a village I'm currently residing in. Let's just say that I have now gone to the complete opposite end of the spectrum from London.

The Chakra Series - Part IV - The Third Chakra

Last week when we looked at the Second Chakra, we considered the energy of how we interact and interrelate with each other - one-on-one. Now we move on to the Third Chakra. It's still about relationships, but the relationship that we'll focus on here is the one we have with ourselves. This is the point in our developmental journey when our sense of who we are matures. We cast aside the characteristics, attitudes and beliefs of the tribe and of those around us. In short, the ego emerges.

Have you fallen back into that rut?

This past week I found myself asking a question out loud that I usually try to keep to myself. You know the one - it's one that only old people are supposed to ask. Where do the time go? There it was - out there and there was no taking it back. Of course, no-one took any notice of it or the unfair significance I had attributed to it. And so to exorcise my little demon, I'll ask it again. Where does the time go?

The Chakra Series - Part III - The Second Chakra

The First Chakra grounds us and gives us our initial sense of identity. The energy of this chakra is that of the traditions and beliefs that come to us from our tribe or our culture. But at a certain point we begin to question the tribe's authority and what we have been taught. Just because it's right for them doesn't mean it's right me. Such reasoning marks the movement into the realm of the Second Chakra.

We set off on our exploration of the chakras with the logical starting point - the First Chakra. It is equally the starting point for each of us in our journey to becoming conscious. This is where we become members of the tribe.

Isn't it time we all cleared our clutter?

Spring has most certainly sprung in my part of the world. Asturias is known as the Costa Verde - the Green Coast. And this is the time of year when the winter rains give way to glorious sunshine. It's also when one's focus shifts from the home to the land. All around you see people preparing their gardens and tending their pastures.

As some of you know, I split my time between the bright lights and hurly-burly of Central London and the peace and tranquillity of a small village in a rural part of northern Spain. Those of you familiar with Spain will know that Asturias is a province of outstanding beauty, giving the Alps of Austria and Switzerland a run for their money, home to Celtic legends and rituals where magic is practised regularly and quite openly.

Have YOUR reading YOUR way!

It's hot sunny day in Brighton. A man strolling along the pier stops at the booth with the colourful hand-painted sign reading "Fortunes Told Here". In London, a woman ducks into a shop with a crystal ball in the window to enquire about when she could get a reading. To the east in the heart of Essex, several members of a family attend spiritualist church hoping that the medium will turn to them during the service. And finally up north in Edinburgh, a student logs on to his computer and books a reading on line and then reaches for his phone.

When is a ghost not a ghost?

It's not Hallowe'en and yet all the buzz this past week has been on haunted houses. I guess I first noticed this development a few weeks ago when it was reported that property values have been purportedly affected by the proximity of homes in which paranormal activity takes place. Perhaps owners' first instincts to invite television crews into their homes to investigate things that go bump in the night has had an unintended knock-on effect.

Spirit guide - or is it just a spirit?

This week's mailbag offered a poignant letter from a young girl from the American State of Louisiana. Annie (of course not her real name) introduced herself with a loving description of her town, perhaps more properly termed a village. She painted a picture of a place where it sounds like the past is at home with the present and where belief in spirits is a given, although apparently not all that openly discussed. But Annie wrote with a confession of sorts and a question.

dead celebrities must be substantiated!

This past week I came across a front-page article about a medium who has been contacted by an 18th century poet - not just any poet but arguably the most famous of English romantic poetry. The medium, it is claimed, met the dead poet during a simple meditative session. And in their second session, he announced that he was back to collaborate with her to write a book, which had been her lifelong dream.

Is this the path to acceptance or abuse?

It didn't happen overnight and most in the field would say that it's centuries overdue. But there's been a quiet revolution taking place since the 1990's. I guess things really took off with the American television programmes Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. These series clearly struck a chord, gaining massive cult followings and popularising witches, magic, spells and, of course, ghosts.

Spirituality doesn't have to be complicated!

Over the years I have witnessed some pretty amazing events that have broken every law of conventional medicine, not to mention physics. I have observed spiritual healing cure people from supposed life-threatening illnesses literally in an instant and I have seen spirit forces levitate objects (without any human assistance or intervention). I have also listened to words of wisdom from disincarnate spirit guides. All of these things fly in the face of conventional wisdom and traditional spirituality. As such, I have come to the conclusion that:

Timing - Sometimes it's not up to the psychic.

Last week I had the reading that psychics live for. My client was a woman from America who was a successful corporate executive looking for guidance in light of some recent events she considered substantial setbacks. The reading started out just like any other, but then it changed quickly and dramatically when I linked with her great aunt who passed to spirit when my client was at university.

In my work as an intuitive, I recently encountered a woman who, at the early age of thirty-eight, had already suffered from (and conquered!) three types of cancer. As she put it, it seemed as though no sooner would she complete treatment for one form than she would be diagnosed with another. And although she came to me for any insights I could offer, she understandably arrived with anger and contempt for everything - and almost everyone.

When people come to me for readings, they want to know where they are going, what's next or whether their dream is just around the corner.
